Movie Monday: The Possession

My boyfriend and I went to see this new horror in theaters Saturday night. You know a horror movie is going to make you laugh when the first line of the movie says "based on true events". Now I personally think that is the funniest thing, that people actually believe that demons can possess someone.
Anyways, The Possession is about a family who got divorced and the two girls go back and forth from mom to dad. Their dad moves into a new home and they stop by a garage sale for plates. Emily, the youngest daughter finds a box she becomes drawn to. Emily's dad agrees to buying this wooden box that has foreign writing on it. The movie goes on with Emily being obsessed with the box, first she can't get it open and then after it's open she becomes a different person.
Her mother is in denial that Emily is different and she is just upset about the divorce, Emily's father is questioning the little girl's behavior, but when he tries to figure it out the demon inside Emily stops him by separating the two.
Now I'm not going to give any spoilers away if you want to find out what happens to the box and to Emily watch the movie for yourself, but in my opinion I wouldn't rush to the theaters to see it right away. Unless your into paying 10 dollars for a horror movie that makes you laugh.
Three things I did not like about the possession.
  1.  They take a very sweet, cute, innocent girl and possess her, she becomes a scary demon.
  2. What should have been the best scene in The Possession was flickering black and white, you kind of missed the whole thing.
  3. The mother walks into the kitchen, it's dark and the only light on is coming from the fridge. She walks over and sees her daughter hunched over eating and talking to herself. This whole scene doesn't make sense to me, but people in scary movies never listen to you and always get into trouble.
If you have seen The Possession please leave your comments, because I would love to hear everyone else's thought of the movie.

Happy Readings
 Samm
